We love a fire drill post, no?

Some acquisition bonuses warrant me delaying my nightly glass of wine and Twitter binge, and this one stopped me in my tracks.

The Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card is currently at a whopping 80,000 points, which is the highest I’ve seen it since I became a travel cards enthusiast. (For reference, I thought I was getting a DEAL when it hit 75,000 earlier this year.)

If you’re curious to know more about this card, I’ve got a deeper dive about why it’s the best airline card out there right here – but I’m not sure how long this offer will last.

As always, I will humbly plead that you use my referral link if you apply (remember, I’m delaying my wine for you!), but if you don’t want to, I still implore you to snatch this one up.

The main benefit of getting this card when the bonus is sky-high is that your points count toward Companion Pass. After you get an 80,000-point bonus, you only need 45,000 more to get the best deal in all of travel rewards: BOGO flights for the rest of the year and the entire following year (a designated friend or partner flies free with you, unlimited). 45,000 points sounds like a lot, but after a few referrals and hitting your spend bonus, you’ll be there in no time.

Another thing I discovered today when scrambling in my Chase account to find the Refer a Friend link was this incredible Rewards Dashboard that I had never seen before:

This dashboard helps you track which benefits you’ve already used – as you can see, I’ve barely flown this year and have yet to use my $75 travel credit and 4 Upgraded Boardings. Ignore the $18 purchase at a bagel shop called Shug’s; I was weak…

This dashboard helps you track which benefits you’ve already used – as you can see, I’ve barely flown this year and have yet to use my $75 travel credit and 4 Upgraded Boardings. Ignore the $18 purchase at a bagel shop called Shug’s; I was weak and they were delicious.

There are a few cards in the Southwest credit card family, but for the reasons you’ll read about in my deeper dive above, I recommend the Priority card (it’s what provides the free Upgraded Boardings and travel credit that more than pays for the annual fee).

To access the dashboard once you get the card, you’ll just click on the credit card account in your broader Chase account and then click the drop down in the little sidebar that opens (are these instructions vague enough for you?). I’ll grab a screenshot.

“Rewards dashboard” is the line item in the dropdown menu under “More…” that opens this magical type-A wonderland.

While my broader travel rewards strategy can be found here, I think going out of order is warranted when solid cards have unusually high bonuses. It’s an art, not a science, ya feel?

If you’d like to apply, the referral link below will take you to the 80,000 points offer. In the meantime, I’m going to start working on a post about how to earn Companion Pass in more creative detail.
